The face of Christ here is very stern, yet his arms are out to capture you. I thought of my Mother with this. She fussed at me as a child, but after her scolding reached out and somewhat said, "Come to Mama." My painting's silent message here is that there are two parts to living life, justice and mercy. The scold is justice, while the open arms are mercy.
